FAQ

What is davVero – Kitchen & Living Room?

davVero is a Bolognese home where you cook together real family-style cuisine.

You will not find chef uniforms or formal lessons. Here you prepare tagliatelle, tortellini and ragù with your hands in the dough, in the kitchen of a real Bolognese home, just as it has always been done: calmly, talking, laughing and eating together.

It is the experience sought by travelers who want to take home not just a recipe, but a piece of authentic Bologna.

How long does the experience last and what does it include?

About 4 hours of a complete experience.

The right amount of time to cook without rushing, truly learn every step, and then sit down together at the table to eat what you prepared with your own hands.

The price includes everything: fresh ingredients, equipment, wine, coffee and of course the lunch or dinner we will cook together. You don’t need to bring anything, just hunger and curiosity.

Do you eat what you cook?

Yes, always. And it’s the best moment.

When you taste your handmade tagliatelle and realize you can make them again at home, for the people you love. We sit down together at the table, share the result and fully experience that conviviality and hospitality that have always been part of Emilian culture.

Effort turns into satisfaction, and learning is truly complete only when you eat what you have created.

What exactly will I learn to cook?

Traditional Bolognese home cooking: fresh egg pasta, ragù, seasonal dishes and recipes passed down within the family.

The dishes we prepare most often include:

  • Tagliatelle with ragù
  • Ricotta tortelloni or tortellini
  • Lasagne alla bolognese
  • Tiramisù

Each class can be customized according to the season and the group’s preferences.

Do I need to be good at cooking to participate?

Absolutely not.

The classes are also suitable for those who have never made fresh pasta in their life. You learn by doing, making a few mistakes and trying again.

Exactly like at home. What matters is not already being good, but wanting to get your hands in the dough and enjoy the process.

How many people participate?

A maximum of 6 people.

Fewer participants mean more attention, more space and a relaxed atmosphere, like in a family or among friends, where you take the time to cook and be together. No crowded classes where you get lost in the crowd.

Will I have my own workstation?

Yes, always.

Each participant has their own workstation, to cook independently, follow every step and experience everything firsthand, at their own pace and with their own space.

You won’t watch someone else cook: you will do it yourself, from start to finish.

Where exactly is davVero located?

Right in the historic city center, at Piazza San Domenico 5.

We are 500 meters from Piazza Maggiore (7 minutes on foot), 450 meters from Mercato di Mezzo and 2 km from Bologna Central Station.

How to get here:

  • On foot: ideal if you are staying in the city center
  • Bus: all central buses pass nearby
  • Car: ex-Staveco parking lot 650 meters away (two-level parking)
  • Train: 25 minutes on foot from the station or 10 minutes by bus

I can send you detailed directions if you wish.

How much does it cost to participate?

The experience costs between €60 and €100 per person, depending on the menu and the type of class.

The price includes:

  • 4 hours of experience
  • All fresh, high-quality ingredients, carefully selected from local producers
  • Complete equipment
  • Lunch or dinner with what you prepared
  • Wine and coffee included

No hidden costs: you pay once and enjoy the complete experience.

In which languages are the classes held?

I am a native Italian speaker and classes for foreign participants are held in English.

During the experience, however, I like to introduce some Italian words and expressions related to cooking: ingredient names, gestures, sayings.

A simple and natural way to immerse yourself even more in the spirit of Bolognese cuisine and culture. Learning how to say “sfoglia”, “mattarello” and “al dente” is part of the experience!

Is it possible to have a vegetarian menu?

Yes, without any problem.

I really like vegetables, even though I’m from Bologna ;-)

Traditional Emilian cuisine has many more vegetarian options than one might think, you just need to know how to enhance them with respect and skill.

Can I participate if I travel alone?

Yes, if you join a class already scheduled with other participants.

davVero does not organize one-on-one classes, but solo travelers are welcome in group classes, where the atmosphere is informal and convivial from the very first moment.

Beautiful friendships often begin right in front of a mound of flour and eggs!

Can I gift an experience at davVero?

Certainly!

You can gift a full class or contribute an amount of your choice. The recipient can then book their preferred date by contacting me directly.

Is it possible to organize a customized class?

Yes, certainly.
I can create tailor-made classes for small private groups (friends, families, corporate teams), adapting the menu to your preferences, dietary needs or special occasions.

Customization must be agreed upon with adequate advance notice, so that the experience can be organized harmoniously and remain true to the spirit of davVero’s cooking.

Can I contact you before the class to ask questions?

Yes, always.
You can write to me at any time before the class to clarify doubts, check ingredients, report allergies or intolerances, or simply to better understand how the experience will take place.
I personally reply to every message: I want you to arrive relaxed and with clear expectations

Do I need to bring anything?

No, you don’t need to bring anything. Not even the wine.
Ingredients, equipment, wine and a set table are already there. You just bring hunger, curiosity and the desire to get your hands dirty with flour.
I only recommend comfortable clothing.

Is the experience accessible for people with reduced mobility?

Unfortunately no, I’m sorry.
davVero is located on the second floor of a historic building, so it is not accessible for people with mobility difficulties or who use wheelchairs.
If you have specific needs, contact me anyway: we will evaluate together whether there are possible solutions.

Are you a professional chef?

No, and I am proud of it.
I learned to cook at home, from my grandmothers and my mother, and by continuing to experiment over time. I put a lot of attention and a lot of heart into what I do.
To family tradition are added curiosity, what I have tasted in restaurants, travels, courses I have taken out of passion and what I continue to discover by reading and observing.
This is how davVero’s cuisine is born: alive, personal and deeply Bolognese. Authentic, not academic.

Do you follow the recipes filed with the Chamber of Commerce?

In Bologna many traditional recipes have been filed with the Chamber of Commerce as a cultural reference, and this is an important heritage.
At the same time, every Bolognese family has its own version, passed down and adapted over generations.
At davVero we cook according to this domestic tradition: authentic Bolognese cuisine, made of gestures, memory and daily practice. I respect the traditional foundations, but I live them with the freedom and love that belong to home cooking.

Do we put fresh basil on top of Bolognese ragù?

No.

And if someone asks, we smile and talk about it together over a glass of wine.

Bolognese ragù has its rules, and fresh basil is not one of them. But this question is always a great conversation starter!

Can I contact you even after the class?

Yes, of course. Always.

If at home you have a doubt, if a recipe doesn’t convince you or if you want to try something new, you can write to me whenever you want.

davVero doesn’t end when the table is cleared: discussion and exchange continue afterward as well. Many participants send me photos of their first homemade tortellini, and it’s a joy every time.

What do people who have cooked at davVero say?

Participants in my classes always leave their hearts in their reviews.

You can read the full testimonials on my dedicated reviews page, where you will find authentic feedback from those who have already experienced davVero.

I am proud to be part of the Cesarine network and to have welcomed travelers from all over the world into my Bolognese kitchen.

Why choose davVero?

Because it is an intimate and authentic experience, designed for those who want to live Bolognese cuisine from the inside, not as spectators.

Here time is shared, gestures are real, pasta is made by your hands and cooking becomes a moment of deep connection, as has always happened in Emilian homes.

I don’t take you into a lab. I welcome you into my home, my kitchen, my Bologna.

And when you return home, you will take with you not only the recipes, but the way cooking is lived here: with calm, respect and love.
